Hi, My mother had been diagnosed with solitary plasmacytoma after she had a pathological fracture in her right shoulder.
She had radiation and then she was on thalidomide for a couple of months. Then a month ago she had a lambda-kappa ratio and that was high due to high kappa values. It was 8.5, so the doctor started giving her Velcade IV.
She had 6 shots of Velcade, and she did not have any major side effects except getting tired. Since last couple of days she has blisters or small pimples on her back, hands and forehead. She treats them with some cooling powder. They disappear on one place and then reappear some other place.
I wasnt sure if this was a common side effect with Velcade, or if anything needs to be done to treat them or will they subside once the side effects starts reducing as she no longer has to take Velcade.

Re: Velcade side effects small blisters or pimples?
Rashes or other skin changes are not a common side effect from IV Velcade, but they have been described. Has she started any other medications at the same time (e.g. acyclovir)? If they persist I would suggest seeing her oncologist for further evaluation.

Thanks for your reply Adam. Actually, she was also given steroid for 3 days 2 times a day after she was given Velcade IV and a medicine for Nausea. She was given Decdan that she took orally for 3 days after the IV. Do you think that might have cause it?
Re: Velcade side effects small blisters or pimples?
I've taken this treament for 6 months and this occurs everytime and goes away without any type of complicatiion. I normally treat the area with neosporen. The mediciine is always injection in my stomach.

It may be shingles(spelling?) I too had the same, but isolated to my back. I now take Acyclovir to prevent.
