My mother is on her 4th month of the treatment. I have found that she is having more issues with each cycle. One of her big problems these days is severe leg pain from knee down during the nights.
Can Velcade cause these problems?

Re: Can Velcade cause severe leg pain?
Irritation of nerves and nerve damage can occur with Velcade injections. Generally if it is from Velcade, the symptoms persist all the time.
One consideration is if she is getting the Velcade IV, change to under the skin (subcutaneous) administration. If she is already getting the injection under the skin, then to consider lowering the dose and see if this helps.

Yes I do Velcade every other week sub q and have nighttime cramping in my feet and calves. I'm trying taking a small amount of magnesium and potassium supplements, but not sure yet if it is working. The crazy thing that does work is I get up & drink pickle juice! Going to try drinking a bit of cider vinegar before bed. I'll let you know!

Re: Can Velcade cause severe leg pain?
My husband had Velcade sub q and developed pretty severe neuropathy. In the daytime he had the numbness and tingly, and pain from it. But at night the pain would shoot up his calves and keep him from sleeping. He took gabapentin [Neurontin] 300 mg 4 times a day. While hospitalized for a different problem he received Dilaudid [hydromorphone] and was amazed at the pain relief and his ability to sleep.
It's been about 9 months since they stopped his Velcade. He hasn't taken the Dilaudid in several months, and his gabapentin is down to 300 mg 3 times a day. His neuropathy is almost gone. He rarely ever took the Dilaudid anytime other than when he was sleeping, but it improved his sleep quality a lot.
Hope this helps.
