Two M-spikes in the gamma region?

by Kathrine on Thu Mar 09, 2017 1:33 pm

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what these things mean?

2 M-spikes in the gamma region.
M1 also includes kappa positivity.
M1 may be a doublet of monoclonal IgG lambda and polyclonal IgG
IgA and IgM are polyclonal

Thanks so much.

Kathrine

Hi Kathrine,

Welcome to the forum. Let me first ask a few questions to better help you:

1. Why were you given a serum protein electrophoresis and immunofixation test in the first place? Does your doctor suspect multiple myeloma? A little more background here would be a big help.

2. What were the values of the two M-spikes (they should be expressed in g/dL or in g/L)? You should find these values on the serum protein electrophoresis report.

3. Did your serum immunofixation test or serum protein electrophoresis test results state anything else?

4. What were the values of your IgG, IgA and IgM immunoglobulins from your quantitative immunoglobulin test (including the units of measure), assuming you had this test done?

5. What were your serum kappa and lambda free light chain values from your serum free light chain assay test (including the units of measure), assuming you had this test done?
