Two different M-spikes

by elizabethmwm on Mon Jun 22, 2015 6:48 pm

I am 28 months post stem cell transplant (SCT) and on 5 mg Revlimid maintenance. My initial diagnosis was IgG lambda multiple myeloma. I got to a very good partial remission (VGPR) and have maintained a stable M-spike of 0.20-0.25 for two years.

My question is: has anyone had SPEP results with two M-spikes? My most recent SPEP showed an M-spike IgG Kappa of 0.24 g/dl AND an M-spike of IgG Lambda of 0.27 g/dl. The doctor must have discussed it with me because I have written down in my notes "2nd M-spike." Whatever she said must have gone in one ear and out the other!!

I've had another SPEP done but results aren't back yet. I always thought multiple myeloma was kappa OR lambda, but not both. I'm not having much luck finding information online. I would be interested if any of you have had two M-spikes and what did it mean?

I will ask doctor when she calls with results of most recent SPEP. I'm usually pretty calm about my labs, but this is kind of worrying me. I'm feeling great and no changes in the way I feel physically. All other labs are good.

Thanks!

Thank you Terry. I checked out that link (which led to other links)! And, it brought up some terms which will help me better research the two m-spikes. Have a good day!
