What can be taken for pain?

by jlyurko on Wed Oct 28, 2015 9:39 am

Hi everyone,

My brother started Velcade and dex last Friday and was send home from the hospital yesterday feeling okay. By last night he was pretty swollen in his legs and also his neck. He's also in considerable pain in his shoulder and back. The doctor sent him home with a script for Dilaudid (hydromorphone), which is working ok.

What can be taken for pain? Is this much pain to be expected?

I'm worried about the edema affecting his kidneys as he has already had kidney problems - that's what landed him in the hospital in the first place.

Thanks,
Jen

There was a recent post in the forum about Velcade being easier on the kidneys than Revlimid; I don't remember who wrote the post.
