Oh, the things you can do during dex night

by gardengirl on Wed Dec 17, 2014 3:11 am

Oh, the things you can do
In the middle of the night
Before darkness subsides
And gives way to the light

It's 2AM during dex night

Tiptoe downstairs
The family is asleep
Even the dog
Doesn't make a peep

It's 2AM during dex night

I read my book
Watch a little TV
Now it's time to sit
By the Christmas tree

It's 3AM during dex night

The lights are so pretty
The ornaments are, too
I wrap a few gifts
There's so much I can do!

It's 4AM during dex night

Must surf the web
To the computer I go
Amazon, ebay
And a cup of joe (I don't drink coffee, but it makes a nice rhyme!)

Would like to find a family gift
Just need to pick it
OMG, just purchased
Tickets to "Wicked"! (darn coffee!)

It's 5AM during dex night

Time is running out
My family will awake
Then they will see
The awesome breakfast I baked!

Oh, the things you can do during dex night!

LOL, LOL, LOL! You totally made my morning Garden Girl. I am totally jet lagged and wide awake at 3AM after being overseas for two weeks, so I can sort of relate.

Brilliant! I just wish there were a [bow down] smiley that I could insert here to show how impressed I am.

Excellent work, gardengirl. I hope you're holding up well after your dex night.

I did have to chuckle. Did you actually finish a task? I usually end up with piles of unfinished projects!

Ah, I remember the holiday season during dex time! I'd plan ahead with a to-do list! Get EVERYTHING set up and completed for Christmas, then during the next dex cycle, get EVERYTHING put away. It's the only time I ever bought anything on the home shopping network; every time I see the fancy clothes hangers I bought, it makes me happy that I made it through it! Thanks for the laugh!!

Well, this is at least a somewhat positive post about dex - anxiously awaiting my first treatment in a few weeks!

P.S. Wicked is awesome, you won't regret it!

Very nice poem; I think that all dex users recognize the feelings.

By recalling my very first dex night, I´ll add one thing not to do during dex nights: Around 3:30 a.m., I felt the need for a cup of coffee, put the kettle on, and woke my sweet sleeping wife, convinced that she was dreaming of a cup of coffee too. She was not!

Hmphh ...

The fact that she is still your wife is absolute proof that she is, indeed, the sweetest spouse on the planet!

LOL! I love your poem!

On dex days, I do a lot of things right after work and go to sleep fairly early, hoping I'll get in five hours before the dex-induced wide awakeness. When it hits, I don't get up. I listen to the radio, pet the cat (who has become an absolute lovies pig), and try to think about anything but work. Usually I fall back to sleep for a while. That happens for two nights. Then comes Wednesday. I drag home from work, eat a little, and crash for 11 blissful hours.

Happy holidays!
