Too much immunoglobolin treatment
A friend of mine with Multiple myeloma has immunoglobin treatment every three weeks intraveneously. She usually gets two bottles but in error recently she was given three bottles. Now her IGG bloods have risen from 26.92 to 42.42 in a 3 week period. Is this the readon why or could her myeloma be getting worse. Any advise would be gratefully appreciated.
Re: Too much immunoglobolin treatment
I don't think your friend's increased levels are due to her multiple myeloma getting worse. If anything I think her levels would actually decrease if it was getting worse since multiple myeloma effects the making of normal cells which then turn in to other working cells, such as her immunglobulins (antibodies). But if you both are concernced always seek out her doctor's advice. I have an excellent relationship with my doctor and CRNPs and feel good about calling for things like this. If your friend doesn't have this kind of relationship with her doctor you may need to be the advocate for her and encourage her to call.
I also have an immune deficiency along with my multiple myeloma. I receive 1 1/2 bottles of Gammaguard every month and my chemo every month as well. I alternate every two weeks. It sounds like you friend has both disorders too. I would like to talk with her and see how both of these have affected her life activities.
I wish you both well and feel free to contact me anytime. I don't get on the computer alot b/c my neuropathy in my hands makes it hard to type, but I will answer as soon as possible.

Hello
The rise is IgG is probalby from the extra IVIG. The main thing to follow in myeloma is the electrophoresisis results. The total IgG does not give the whole story.
