Good morning! I have an unusual symptom / comment.
I just completed my 4th cycle of RVD [Revlimid, Velcade, and dexamethasone] with good response and am scheduled for a stem cell transplant in about 6 weeks. I am feeling tired and a little achy for the last couple of days. Could this be a related to not having dex last week?
Just curious if anyone else has experienced this on their off week. Especially the fatigue.

Hi Ellen,
Yes, definitely. I went through 5 cycles of RVD. At the beginning of the "off week" for each cycle, I often felt extra fatigued and achy. But by the end of the off week, I felt a lot better. You've probably experienced that in your cycles already. I think being on or off dex makes a lot of difference in the cycles.

Thanks, Mike. I appreciate the response. Still not feeling great even though I have to start chemo again tomorrow. But, I think you are right. It could be the dex. I guess the body gets adapted to those steroids.
As far as the SCT goes, I am pretty nervous about it, after reading various accounts. I would like to say that I will post while I am in the hospital, but I don't want to disappoint myself and others, if I cannot.

Just because a few people have posted during their transplant process recently doesn't mean that you need to. Don't put extra stress on yourself that might make you feel a failure if you can't keep up with your intention to post. I set up a CaringBridge site for myself when I was going for transplant. That way I was able to post once per day as I felt able and all of the people who I wanted to communicate with could access the site and post back if they wanted to. There were several days when my counts had bottomed out and not yet begun to recover that I didn't have the energy to post. My sister did so in my place.
You don't take the Dex on your off weeks? I take it once a week whether I'm in an off or on week. I don't remember when I stopped taking the Dex prior to my transplant. It may have been 4 weeks because I remember that I finished what I had left of all of my drugs before starting the process to get ready for the stem cell harvesting.
Be well and before you know it you will have had your transplant and be on to the next phase of this Myeloma journey.

By the time I was into my 4th cycle of Velcade/Dex, I could feel tired and achy at any time or all the time.
