I just had my Electrophoresis test done, and the notes say : Serum Immunofixation and Quantitative Immunoglobulins with free light chains by nephelometry,
Igg is 721 mg/dl
Iga is 92 Mg/dl
Igm Is 48 Mg/dl This is low
Free Kappa is 0.30 mg/dl This is Low
Free Lambda is 0.40 md/dl This is Low
Kappa/Lambda Ratio unable to calculate
Lambda free is 0.40 Mg This is low.
Does anyone know what this means? I see my doctor tomorrow, but would like to know .
Thank you.

Re: Test result help
Tera,
Welcome to the forum!
Are you being tested for myeloma? Could you share a little background and why you are being tested?
What did the notes/comments on the serum immunofixation test say?
Was there any abnormal protein (could be reported as monoclonal protein, M-protein, paraprotein, etc) mentioned on the electrophoresis results?
The results you posted are light chain assay and quantitative immunoglobulin results, not the electrohoresis and immunofixation results.
To make sure we are talking about the right free light chain test, can you please include the reference (normal) ranges for those figures? I can comment further once you verify those figures.

Re: Test result help
Sorry I am trying to understand the report. I started with Lyme disease in 2012, and now my pain is kind of like bone pain, so the doctor ran a bunch of tests. This is the test I received.
It said's Immunofixation electro serum w/ Igg, am
Igg-Quant is 721 range is 694-1618
Iga-Quant 92 range is 68-378
igm-Quant is 48 range is 53-334
kappa free is <0.30 range is 0.33-1.94
kappa/lambda ratio unable to calculate ratio
lambda free <0.40 range is 0.57-2.63
The notes from the Pathologist said
Serum Immunofixation and Quantitative Immunoglobulins with free light chains by nephelometry,
I am not sure about this, but this is what the test say.

Re: Test result help
OK, thanks. These kappa and lambda numbers are from the standard free light chain assay. Per the company that makes these tests, a low lambda and a low kappa likely means that you have bone marrow suppression going on. But without knowing the kappa/lambda ratio, you can't use the table in this link to say if a monoclonal gammopathy is also in play.

Bone marrow suppression means that there is a decrease in the production of immunity and oxygen-carrying cells that originate in your bone marrow.
I don't know much about Lyme disease, but I believe that one of its common treatments (antibiotics) can also cause bone marrow suppression over time, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about these test results meaning some form of multiple myeloma.
It is also encouraging that all your immunoglobulins are in the normal range (these would tend to be out of whack in the most common forms of multiple myeloma).
Let us know how things turn out with your doc tomorrow...and good luck.
