Contact dermatitis from Tegaderm medical dressing?
Does anyone else get severe contact dermatitis when Tegaderm is used over central lines and IV lines? If so what else can be used?

Re: Contact dermatitis from Tegaderm medical dressing?
I have extremely sensitive skin and had the same problem. My insurance required that a visiting nurse come to the house to clean and change the dressing, and she had an alternative dressing specially formulated for sensitive skin in her bag. I don't know the name of the product, but I do know that it worked for me. The nurse was sent through Walgreens, if that is of any help.
Sorry this isn't much help, since I can't give you a specific name, but there are alternate products to Tegaderm, such as Sorbaview and Bioclusive, and there may be other brands as well.

Re: Contact dermatitis from Tegaderm medical dressing?
I had severe rashes from the chlorhexidine found in ChloraPrep skin antiseptics and Biopatch protective disks. The staff switched to Betadine (povidone-iodine) antiseptic and used IV3000-brand transparent dressing for the patch, and no rash occurred.
I continue to request that no ChloraPrep, Biopatch, or Tegaderm is used for infusions such as Zometa treatments.

I got dreadful rashes too. In the end, they used a silicone dressing on me. No problems at all
