Tandem auto SCT

by blizard49 on Thu Feb 14, 2013 4:00 pm

Hello- I was diagnosed in March 2012 with M-Spike 3.6 and have had induction VRD, and an auto transplant. Feeling and doing well, but even though my genetics are low-risk, my myeloma never got below 1.5.. even with consolidation chemo of VTAD Pace and hyper CVAD before the transplant. My oncologist is suggesting I may do best with a tandem auto transplant right away, if the response to the first transplant is not VG or CR......I am not looking forward to that option, but certainly will if it is the best shot at overall survival. I am almost 70 now. Anybody been through this scenario versus maintenance? Any links to studies on this?
Thanks very much,
Eric :?
