Has anyone seen any more information on the treatment described in this new story that aired on channel 7 news in southern California yesterday? Nearly 80% complete remission in heavly pretreated patients sounds pretty good.

Re: T-Cell treatment with SCT for myeloma?
Hi Eric,
This approach to treating myeloma has been under development for a while. We published an update about it last August -- see this article:
https://myelomabeacon.org/news/2012/08/31/gene-therapy-to-treat-leukemia-and-multiple-myeloma-update/
Results of the trial discussed in the video were reported at the ASH meeting this past December. Here's a link to the abstract:
https://ash.confex.com/ash/2012/webprogram/Paper53890.html
Here's information about the trial:
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01352286
A related trial which we've been tracking here at The Beacon, but which has not yet opened for recruitment, is this one:
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01892293
Here's a link to a more complete (text) version of the story in the video you posted, including an interview with the physician who appeared in the video:

Finally, the patient in the video you posted -- Marty Melley -- is a Beacon reader. He recently posted a comment on one of our patient columns. You can view it here:
