swollen belly with sub q Velcade and dex

by karenh on Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:27 pm

A friend who has myeloma has an extremely swollen belly and is looking for answers. He is on Velcade (sub q) and dex. It is difficult for him to bend over and to undertake everyday tasks. His doctors are baffled. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, did you find a solution?
Thanks!

I received Velcade subcutaneously on third cycle of CyborD ,the first dose left me with small hematoma, on my second dose a week later, the site became reddened , with blister like rash and large hematoma. The staff at clinic informed us this is the first time they have seen this reaction. It took two weeks for the blister and hematoma to dissipate but it left a birthmark like discolouration on my belly.

I am starting my 5th week of CyBorD...the swollen belly probably is from the dex...there is lots of water weight gain I think....I am pretty swollen all over, too. My main side effect battle has been with nausea...an I.V. of Aloxi is helping so much... Is there a problem with constipation? I have had that, too...Miralax is helping me with that... Wow...after reading the info on Velcade, I'll no longer be drinking green tea...I'll have to switch to peppermint now.....or chamomile...
