Ok people, I need opinions, stories, your own experiences.
What type of transplant did you have, heard recommend, experience yourself?
My mom just turned 56 so she is still young. Can two transplants really "cure" myeloma? I am all ready to give my cells, whatever is needed, but I need some recommendations. Please share your stories!

Autologous seems to be the preferred. This would be done using your mother's own stem cells. There is no conflict with this type of stem cell transplant.
A lot depends on your mothers condition now. Is she in some phase of remission?
Stem cell transplants seem to be a little controversial, but they seem to remain popular.
There is no cure and remission is the goal. Remission is the only thing available to date to keep the disease at bay.
I had an autologous (own) stem cell transplant (SCT) using cells taken when I was in remission, no sign of the disease, and I held that for 3 1/2 years. I had my SCT at age 70.
