Stem cell transplant relapse

by mrsv118 on Mon Oct 01, 2012 8:50 am

If the meds before transplant kill all of our myeloma cells, and we are transplanted with our stem cells that have been treated to kill any myeloma cells, why do we relapse?

My understanding is that not all of the myeloma cells are killed by the treatments. They just get so low that they aren't measureable.
