I was diagnosed in March of 2016 with kappa light chain multiple myeloma. I am on Day +11 of an inpatient stem cell transplant that was a long time in coming. Currently WBC 0.2, ANC 0. Nevertheless, I hope to be out of here in a few days. I appreciate the personal accounts others have posted about their stem cell transplants and they have guided my decisions and care.
Perhaps others have addressed this issue or there may be no issue for others, but I had the following experience:
During a bout of diarrhea, I was apparently too aggressive wiping myself with the hospital-issue toilet paper. My rectum became very sore. I think if I had used (baby) wipes I might have avoided much distress. I would advise the use of wipes during any transplant-related diarrhea.
Oddly I have oodles of energy and am otherwise doing well. Lucky.
Best,
Peter

Re: Stem cell transplant advice: baby wipes
Hi Peter.
Sorry to hear about your sore "behind," but that's great news that you are feeling energized and well!
I bet the hospital has personal hygiene wipes if you ask them. I had to use them with my mother when she was battling her cancer. It certainly makes it easier to take care of business!
Be well!
