Meaning of SPAFK and SPAFL in blood tests?
The acronyms SPAFK and SPAFL showed up in my husband's blood tests. They're new to us, and we're going into a holiday weekend, so I'm not sure we can find out by asking the doctor. Both were low on his chemistries panel, but I can't find them listed anywhere.

Hi Vmeyer,
What were the measured values and normal reference ranges that were listed with these two entries? I'm guessing that they were his kappa and lambda serum free light chain measurements. If you list the two reference ranges, that should be easy to figure out.

Re: Meaning of SPAFK and SPAFL in blood tests?
SPAFK 0.09 mg/dl (0.33 - 1.94)
SPAFL 0.12 mg/dl (0.57 - 2.63)
Ratio 0.75 (0.26 - 1.65)
That makes sense to me. The lab hadn't used that terminology before and I was puzzled. Thanks!
By the way, his M-spike went up from 0.4 (it has been in that range for awhile) to 0.8 mg/dL, so anything abnormal is suspicious to me.
