There have been two stories on Senesco's SNS01-T in the news this week.
1. They have finished the first cohort from their phase 1/2 monotherapy trial with patients with relapsed multiple myeloma that have undergone at least 2 other treatment regimen. The drug was well-tolerated, with no safety issues and 2 of the 3 patients completing the treatment regimen with this, the lowest dose in the trial, were classified as having stable disease after the 6 week monitoring period.
No one was expecting to see efficacy in what is only 1/30 of what will be the highest dose administered. In the second cohort patients will receive a 4 fold greater dose. The trial is ongoing at the Mayo Clinic, University of Arkansas Medical Center and West Virginia University Medical Center. Read the news release below.

2. The second piece of news was that the combination of SNS0-1T and Revlimid has shown to have a lasting effect on human multiple myeloma cells in mice. In summary, an optimal dose of a combination of the two drugs caused 5 out of 6 mice treated led to complete tumor eradication in these animals. And in 4 out of the 5 animals with a complete response the cancer did not return during the 100 day observation period. In addition, in other arms of this trial, SNS01-T by itself showed much more efficacy than Revlimid by itself.
These are highly unusual results and the company has said that its next trial will likely be a combo trial with Revlimid in patients that have failed at least 1 other treatment regimen. Read the news release below.
