Re: Smoldering with lytic lesions - time for treatment?

Hi everyone,

I got Brendan's previous PET results from May 2014, and they show no other non-avid lucencies apart from the plasmacytoma at that time.

Blood work results show an increased free light chain ratio now at 69. In October of last year, it was 40.

IgG 40
IgA 0.36
IgM 0.19

Albumin 37
Globulin 53
Total protein 90

WBC 5.47
RBC 3.73
Hb 11.1

Creatinine 73
Calcium 2.25

He's a bit more anaemic now. The ratio has gone up, and the IgG also increased. We haven't got his M-spike results back yet. The non-avid lucencies are new. Calcium and creatinine normal. Started him on calcium supplements, and I see Multibilly takes ferrous sulphate, although I bought ferrous fumarate; not sure of the difference. We meet with the haematologist next week.

Should we start treatment? We're getting married in June and have a honeymoon booked after for 2 weeks - talk about timing! I like the quotation I once saw: "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain."
