Skin peeling & blistering on Biaxin, Revlimid and dex

Hi everyone,

I'm Robin here in New York City and I just started Biaxin (clarithro­mycin), Revlimid, and dexa­metha­sone two weeks now!

I see I have peeling and blistering on my arms. Is this common side effect?

Hi City Gal:

Skin issues, most commonly rash, are quite common for Revlimid. Its a judgement call as to whether or not they dial it back, or try to blast through it. It depends on how severe. In many cases, it clears by itself in a week or two, but also it may require dose reduction. In my general opinion, in most cases, they are able to get by with a dose adjustment, and in most cases do not need to stop the Revlimid. In very bad cases, they will stop the Revlimid. Hi City Gal,

That sounds uncomfortable! If it's like a rash, you might try Claritin or Benadryl to see if that clears it up. EJ is going through the same thing - woke up early this week covered in a rash. He started Benadryl as soon as he saw it, and it cleared it up fairly quickly. Now he's taking 24-hour Claritin (less issues with drowsiness), and he's been able to keep in under control.
