My husband, Jerry, was diagnosed August 31, 2014. He was 69 at the time and fracturing bones doing nothing. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and began a series of Revlimid by mouth and Velcade subcutaneously. He responded so well, no need for a stem cell transplant. His M-spikes went down to 0.03. They were over 3000 at his diagnosis.
Now he is on Revlimid for a maintenance therapy. He has days with energy and some with no energy. He has neuropathy in his hands and feet, mostly toes. He takes gabapentin for that.
He has developed very dark places on his arms mostly.The slightest hit will make these places bleed profusely. His oncologist says it is from the medicine (Revlimid). His arms look really bad and bleed through clothes on sheets, etc.
Does anyone who has experienced this have a suggestion for something to protect and maybe help heal these places?
We have a wonderful group oncologist at Virginia Oncology Associates.Thank you for any advice.

My mom was diagnosed in June 2014 and also is on Revlimid. She also recently started on Kyprolis. I noticed the spots on my mother's arms before she started on Kyprolis and questioned her oncologist as well. We were told that it is a side effect of the Coumadin that she takes and her dosage is always adjusted but now I'm wondering if it may be the Revlimid because it causes low platelets and the spots could be a sign of this.
My mother usually keeps her arms elevated when in a seated position using pillows so that her arms are above chest level and this tends to help her a bit. Maybe this will help your husband too

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's problems. The issues you described sure sound to me like things that might be caused by low platelets. Do you know your husband's platelet count from his most recent CBC test? While 160 K/mcL is the low end of the normal range, I think doctors get seriously concerned if it drops below 50.
The way that my doctor has dealt with low platelets that I've had as a side effect of Revlimid is to reduce my dose of Revlimid. Sometimes a short Revlimid "vacation" can help too.
