Re: Side effects of Revlimid
I am on my second month of maintenance Revlimid at 10mg daily with no breaks. My WBC has dropped to 3.6 which for me is a all time low excluding stem cell transplant, time, but not as low as others are experiencing. I also have some itching and occasionally a small rash, I also have noticed tiredness and fatigue. I do not consider any of these side effects to be that difficult to live with. I wished I had the energy back I had in February but I am still a lot better off than I was when I was on Velcade last summer during initial treatment after initial diagnosis.

Re: Side effects of Revlimid
Eric,
You mention itching and occasionally a rash as a side effect. Until recently, I had not heard of a rash as being an issue. However, one of the other patients on CRD at UofM that I see quite often just told me he had to drop the Revlimid from his treatment because he would break out in a severe rash from it. They stopped and started him on the Revlimid a couple of times, and both times they restarted, the rash came back.

I did not attribute the itching to Revlimid until I read it was a side effect experienced by 46% of those on the drug in one study. I can certainly live with it and want to stay on Revlimid, recent clinical trials have showed it is very effective as a maintenance chemo.

Re: Side effects of Revlimid
Can Revlimid cause weight loss/ lack of appetite?
My mother has been on Revlimid since 2 months as her maintenance therapy after she had 8 rounds of Velcade. Since couple of days she has cold/cough and sore throat, which she says is the weather that is causing it. But she is also experiencing weight loss and lack of appetite. I am not sure what might be causing it. Has anybody experienced weight loss and lack of appetite with Revlimid and if yes, are there any ways to avoid it? Her weight loss is not drastic, but it has been going down a little bit consistently.

Re: Side effects of Revlimid
I am supposed to start taking Revlimid two days from today. I have no idea what kind of side effects, if any, i will experience and how soon those side effects will set in. The doctor gave me the diagnosis of MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome). Which essentially means that my bone marrow is not making enough blood for my body needs and i have to depend upon weekly blood transfusions.
I am putting this on the internet only to hear from people who may have experienced the same problem as i do. I would appreciate any feedback from any one who has the diagnosis of MDS and who may have been treated with Revlimid. Please provide as much information as you can.

Eric:
I experienced a rash after 5 cycles of Revlimid (25mg), Velcade and dex and was taken off rev. for one cycle. My multiple myeloma progressed, so I was placed back on Revlimid (25mg) without any more rash issues for 2 more cycles. This was in 2008. I stopped rev. for my stem cell transplant, and did not restart any Revlimid until 2010. I took 25mg Revlimid from 09/10 until 10/12 without any breaks or dosage reduction, and had few side effects that caused any real problems.
