Side effects from stopping treatment?

by rhoslynn on Mon Feb 16, 2015 6:47 am

Hi All!

We often chat about the side effects of taking all these drugs we do, but what about scaling them down and then coming off them completely!

It was a joy to come off the cortisone I was taking and that had a good side effect! I could sleep much better!

Now, coming off the thalidomide was another whole story! Not problematic-like withdrawal symptoms, if the thalidomide being a sleeping tablet is taken into account!

No! I am talking about hair growth! As I drooped from 200 mg thalidomide per day to 100 mg, I noticed hair growth where I had had little soft hair before. Hard coarse hair! And extra sweat on my thighs as well.

Then my arms went the same way, and, when I went off the thalidomide a month later, the hair growth and sweat on legs and arms got a bit worse. Shaving them seemed to make things worse, then the next month it went away!

Most uncomfortable in the height of summer down here, south of the equator!

Has anyone had any other similar experiences, or any thing else weird?
