Still sick and losing weight 6 months post transplant

by Toddy 57 on Thu Apr 14, 2016 9:36 pm

My husband is six months post stem cell transplant and is still being sick and has trouble eating. His weight is still dropping. He is supposed to be in remission but is still as poorly as he was before the transplant.

Anyone else had this problem so long after the stem cell transplant?

I had nausea for about 3 months and then it gradually got better over the next 4-5 months. None of the medications that they gave me helped with the nausea, so I just dealt with it. There were a number of foods that I still couldn't tolerate for a few years. Actually, the thought of eating them or smelling them turned me off. It was only a month ago, 6 years post transplant, that I suddenly had a craving for oranges. Up until that point, the thought of them was nauseating to me.

Hopefully your husband will begin to feel better. What does his oncologist say? Have you met with a dietitian at all? It might help.

All the best to your husband in beginning to be able to eat,
