Should I continue my Revlimid treatment?

by Connie Harman on Sun Jun 17, 2012 4:55 pm

Its been 2 yrs after my stem cell transplant followed by Revlimid for 1 yr after. Plasma percent is 5 to 1 percent.

Would another course of Revlimid be helpful.

Also developed serious carpal tunnel,Renault, hand and finger numbness.

Dear Connie,

It sounds like you have been off Revlimid for 1 year at this point. If there has been no evidence of disease progression since then, and you did not have high-risk disease and are in a complete remission, I would hold off on resuming Revlimid. If you are not in a complete remission or had high-risk disease, the decision is somewhat more difficult, but I would probably sit tight. The optimal duration of Revlimid maintenance is currently not known, and I am not sure that resuming it after a 1-year break is going to provide a lot of additional mileage, especially if you had significant side effects from treatment (sounds like you did from your post). If you have had disease progression recently, than you would need to talk to your oncologist about treatment choices for relapsed disease.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Pete V.
