Shoud I be getting referred to an oncologist?

by must love cats on Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:59 pm

Hi, just wanted to ask everyone out there a few questions. I have been experiencing rib and
upper back pain close to nine months now on a daily basis. I have been through plenty of tests
and even been referred to a Rheumatologist by my GP because my blood tested positive for RA twice. Well I went and had simple Xrays done and more blood tests. I don't have RA and I don't
have Anklosing Spondilitis. He put me on plaquenil for apparent osteoarthritis which from one of the blood tests the GP ordered showed I had no other form of arthritis in my body. I also have
high creatine level and low kidney function. I know that a positive blood test for RA when you don't have it can be indicative of Multiple Myeloma. I have had the Bence Jones protein urine test and it came back negative. Since I don't see my GP until December, should I schedule an appointment and ask him to refer me to an onocologist for reasons listed above. I am really concerned and getting very proactive with my health. Both doctors sort of ignored my rib pain.
I even had my gallbladder removed and it didn't help. Any suggestions as what to do at this time? If I have Multiple Myeloma I would like to be diagnosed as soon as possible so I could begin treatment. I am a 66 year old female and I live in a rural area.

Get a bone scan and MRI (if you must a bone marrow sample) they will determine if you have multiple myeloma.
