Regarding:

".... My oncologist immediately recommended getting the pneumonia vaccine. He also advised getting the flu shot annually. He was really strong in his statement about not getting the shingles vaccine because progression to active myeloma could occur at any time and I might end up in trouble with the vaccine"

I had this discussion with my local hem/onc yesterday. This was his exact recommendation as well for my SMM condition. Yes to the pneumonia vaccine and flu vaccine, no to the shingles vaccine.
