My husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma In January 2012. His bone damage was so extensive he lost about 6 inches in height. He has had an MRI and a visit with a spine specialist. They have determined there is nothing they can do to help with the spine fractures and pain. As my husband has been able to increase his activity level, he is having a new problem. He gets very sharp pains in his side if he moves too quickly. We are not sure if he is pinching a nerve or if the rib cage is rubbing against his pelvis. He wears a brace when he has to walk for an extended time, but that does not seem to help.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?

Re: Sharp pain in the side
My mother has the same problem but it's in her right leg. The doctors don't have a solution so they keep feeding her pain killers. All of them are baffled by this. Maybe try a neurologist that deals with the nervous system as well as the brain. I asked for one at the hospital she's at and apparently they only deal with the brain. Next time I will demand for one. Good luck
Re: Sharp pain in the side
Same problem for 2years........shingles requiring surgery and implant placed on nerve to reduce pain. Doctor picked it in 5 minutes with 2 phase plan to help. Implant in, big bucks but has cut pain by 50 per cent

Pinched nerves do often show up in other places.
