Hi all,
My PCP sent me for a immunoglobulin G,A,M and serum electrophoresis tests.The results came back as follows;
Immunglobulin G 11 (6-15)
Immunoglobulin A 1.91 (0.7-4)
Immunoglobulin M 0.74 (0.5-2.3)
SPE:There is a small IgG restriction in the gamma fraction.No monoclonal protein band detected.They suggest a repeat test in 3-6 months to monitor.
What does this mean?.I am a thirty two year old female.I have ongoing trouble with anaemia,fatigue and joint pain.
Thank You

Re: Serum electrophoresis result
Dear Cindy1,
Your immunoglobulin levels appear to be within the normal range, and your SPEP results are equivocal, with a questionable monoclonal protein (IgG) seen that isn't even measurable. Based on your symptoms and your demographics, I would ask your PCP if he/she is working you up for an autoimmune disease, which can sometimes be associated with low-level abnormalities on SPEP or other myeloma screening tests.
Best regards,
Adam Cohen
