The local oncologist has my mom on a regimen of 2 weeks of Revlimid, one week off, and getting Velcade once a week every week. She has had pretty bad neuropathy.
We went and saw a specialist and he recommended 3 weeks straight of Revlimid and Velcade once a week and one week off both Velcade and Revlimid.
Local oncologist said all this will accomplish is more tiredness from the Revlimid.
Anyone try 3 weeks of Revlimid and Velcade and one week off?
Thanks.

Re: RVD / VRD 3 weeks on 1 week off dosing - anyone doing it
I've done Revlimid 21 days on 7 days off for 20 months. Initially 25 mg 4 cycles then a SCT, then maintenance 10 for 18 months and now 5. I have had blood panel problems and blood clot issues that called for the reduction. Oh, and no dex or Velcade.
Re: RVD / VRD 3 weeks on 1 week off dosing - anyone doing it
When I was on RVD during the induction phase (3 cycles) and consolidation phase (2 cycles) before and after my SCT in 2013, each cycle consisted of Revlimid on days 1-14, Velcade on days 1, 4, 8, 11, and dex on days 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 12. The 3rd week in each cycle was an "off week" with no RVD.
From what I've read in the Forum, this dosing schedule seems pretty standard for RVD -- at least as "standard" as anything gets with multiple myeloma.
On the neuropathy that your Mom is experiencing, two suggestions.
First, subcutaneous injections have been shown to lead to less peripheral neuropathy with Velcade than IV infusion, with no drop in the effectiveness of Velcade against myeloma. So check to make sure your Mom is getting Velcade by sub q injections.
Second, there are a number of things that can be done to try to mitigate the peripheral neuropathy side effects from Velcade. Over the counter meds include vitamin B100 complex, alpha lipoic acid, and l carnitine. Lyrica, which is a prescription drug often used for diabetes, has also helped me. And there is a study showing some benefit of regularly massaging your feet and hands with cocoa butter cream.
Good luck to your Mom!
