RVD side effects: do they get better or worse over time?

by bodumene on Tue Feb 28, 2017 11:45 pm

Hi All,

Following up on my post last week, "Survived first week of RVD" (Feb. 26, 2017), my second week seemed to go reasonably well, with the side effects not too bad and lasting only a few days. Is this typical?

I have heard conflicting messages about side effects. Some say the body adjusts to the drugs, and the side effects diminish over time. Others say the longer you are on the drugs, the worse the side effects become.

I suppose it just depends on the individual.

I think you answered your own question, it depends on every individual.

I can tell you my experiences with all of my treatments have been markedly different then anyone has described in this forum. This initially led me to think that there was something "wrong" with me (other then the multiple myeloma of course), and made me feel worse about what my treatment plans was and is. Listen to your body, and consult with your doctors. They will recommend what they believe is best for you, and provide medications to help alleviate any of your debilitating side effects.

Best of luck to you. It sounds like you are off to a very good start.
