Hello everyone,
My Mom was diagnosed in May 2014 with multiple myeloma, and from her FISH test it was concluded that she has the del 17p chromomal abnormality and she therefore is considered high-risk. She is 72 years old and has no other health issues at all. She is a candidate for ASCT [autologous stem cell transplantation], and is waiting to get one.
If you are a high-risk patient, or a family member of one, would you kindly share your story?
Thank you.

Re: Any high-risk multiple myeloma survivors here?
Hi Ella,
We're sorry to hear of your mother's diagnosis. We hope she has responded well to treatment so far.
In case you have not seen them already, the postings in this thread may be helpful to you:
"High risk myeloma? If so, please share your story" (forum thread started Jan 30, 2014)
You can find additional forum discussions related to high-risk myeloma by doing a search on the keyword "risk" in the forum searchbox up above, underneath the site menu bar (i.e., NOT the search in the menu bar).

Hello Beacon Staff,
Thank you for replying. I had not come across that thread before.
Will also try searching for "risk" only instead of "high risk".
