Re: Revlimid stomach problems - any tips?

by Dano on Wed Jul 16, 2014 7:01 am

Chronic constipation is a problem I have been dealing with since starting Revlimid in March 2014.

I use Metamucil daily along with Colace (docusate) 100mg twice daily, and one or two doses of Miralax (polyethylene glycol) daily. I maintain a high fiber diet and eat a lot of fresh fruit throughout the day. If constipation is your problem, I would suggest starting out with Colace and Miralax and titrate yourself up to a comfortable level, with fiber.

Stimulant laxatives like Senna and Dulcolax (bisacodyl) should be used sparingly and not on a regular ongoing basis. They can eventually cause further problems with bowel mobility and compound the problem if used chronically.

I have been on Revlimid maintenance since the end of March, The problem of diarrhea is ever present. My doctor advised taking one tablet of Immodium every day and that seems to help. I also stopped drinking milk and was told to take soy milk, which tastes pretty good and has helped.
