Hi All,
In arranging for my latest maintenance shipment of Revlimid from the specialty pharmacy, I raised the question of stability of Revlimid in extreme summer heat with the pharmacist.
I was told that it would be stable as long as the temperature remained below 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). This is an issue when shipping to the southern U.S. during this heat wave. I was advised that the shipment could be packed with an ice pack and shipped overnight and would not be shipped over a weekend due to hot warehouse and truck temps. This was news to me, since I usually get my shipment on Mondays. I have changed to Friday with ice pack.

I get mine from CVS Specialty Pharmacy. (a 28 day supply)
I have them ship directly to the CVS Pharmacy--2 blocks from my office. UPS Protocol for meds.
Before CVS built at that location, I had them (CVS) ship to my regular Rx.
I have kids in my neighborhood and I'm rarely home before 7:00 pm to even look in the mailbox. It's 94 degrees today and Prolly 100+ in my old tin mail box.
With Revlimid being cytotoxic, and costing ,...ohh $14 K,...I think it can stay at the nearest CVS and a cool 72 degrees, until I hit the drive up window and sign for it.
Safe for the kids, theft-proof, and ....Cool !

We have it shipped to our local CVS too! No more waiting around all day to make sure we don't miss the delivery!!

My CVS is 7 miles away, but that might be a good option if I'm not going to be around. They want a signature, so UPS will not leave it in my box or by the door, which is a good thing.
Wherever it is shipped to, I would avoid shipping over a weekend to be temperature safe and would request the ice pack if not standard policy.

Revlimid shipment just arrived. All ice was melted but not hot yet. Will be doing ice pack again.

I also have my Revlimid shipped to my local CVS pharmacy. I had too many problems with the UPS driver for my location. He wouldn't come to my door, but would just put in the computer that I wasn't home. I've never been out when expecting a drug delivery. UPS has been very uncooperative in responding to the multiple complaints from others on his route about poor service.
Having Revlimid delivered to the pharmacy takes a lot of the inconvenience about waiting around for a delivery.

Interesting and relevant discussion. I've been taking Revlimid for 6+ years (how 'bout that?!). It comes from the Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy somewhere in Michigan and is delivered to me here in the Cleveland, OH area. For years I signed for UPS deliveries at home reliably late in the day (our route drivers are very reliable and predictable), but then I discovered that I could have the shipment delivered to my work address, where it is signed for by someone in the mailroom or by my secretary. On days when I am at work all day, this is handier than being at home and blocking out several hours to wait for the UPS truck. If I know I'm going to be at home all afternoon, I ask to have it delivered at home.
Only in the past year or so has Diplomat occasionally shipped the Revlimid in a cooler with an 'ice' pack. The first time or two that that happened, I was surprised, so I called them to ask about why they did it. I was told that they watch the weather forecasts, and if they think the shipment will be in a hot truck for too long, they opt to ship it in a cooler. This means mostly in the summer months. The far more common practice is for them to ship it in the usual cardboard box.
