Can Revlimid cause low hemoglobin / RBC counts?

My Mother has been taking Revlimid since 3 months. She was intially adviced to do blood tests every 15 days. Now she does it every 30 days. Today she had her blood work done and below are her results.

Hemoglobin: 11.3
RBC: 3.93
Platelets: 152000
WBC: 4000

Are the above results normal because usually her hemoglobin remains above 12 and her RBC above 4. She has fluctuations in her WBC and platelet counts. Is this usual with Revlimid?

She takes daily dose of Revlimid with 10 mg without a break. She goes to see her doctor on Monday but I was concerned so thought of asking if anybody had this experience.

Those counts are not unusual, mine are similar. Revlimid can lower both whiite and red cell counts but so too does multiple myeloma.

Thanks for your reply Ron. It does make me feel better to know that Revlimid might be one of the reasons for the low hemoglobin / RBC counts.

I have been on CRD (carfilzomib, Revlimid, dexamethasone) for 20 cycles. My WBC, RBC, and hemoglobin have all hovered around the lower normal range to a bit below normal since reaching complete response. Doctor says this is primarily from the Revlimid. Platelets can also be affected, though mine have remained well into the normal range. I think I've been a bit more susceptible to illness due to the lower WBC, and my stamina might be a bit better if the RBC was up into the normal range, but otherwise I have no significant issues.

Hi,

My mother is on maintenance Revlimid since 2012 after diagnosis. Initially her hemoglobin used to fluctuate between 12-13 gm, then 11-12, then 10-11 and lastly her readings were as below,

Hgb: 9.8 gm
RBC: 3.3 mil/cmm
WBC: 3600 per cumm
Platelets; 284000 per cumm

She never had a transplant and has been on maintenance only. She never had M-spike but her kappa value starts increasing, so her doctor monitors that. After compression fracture in vertebrae last November, she was given Revlimid, Velcade and dexamethasone. She was also treated with 10 rounds of radiation. Currently she is on Revlimid 10 mg 21 days on, 1 week off and 40 mg dexamethasone. Her last reading were

Kappa: 66.84 mg/L
Lambda: 21.65 mg/L
Ratio: 3.09

My question is there anyone who never had a transplant and had decreasing hemoglobin due to maintenance drugs? And if any steps were taken like transfusion after a particular point?
