Revlimid and urinary frequency

by redcarnation on Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:07 pm

I was on Revlimid 25 mg for 3 months (1st time on this medication), and from the start after 24 hours, I had nocturia which didn't bother me too much, but during the 3rd cycle (month), the urge to pass urine all the time was there, a very uncomfortable feeling.

After 3 cycles, I am now on 2 months off the Revlimid (my request), and the urge to urinate all the time is lessening thank goodness. My GP tested for a UTI, but I did not have that. My haematologist said he has not heard of urinary problems with Revlimid, but that is definitely the cause in my case.

I am not on any other drug with the Revlimid. My blood counts with the myeloma returned to normal pretty quickly after starting the Revlimid, and now that I am off it, I am feeling really good.

After a month off so far, I am still getting the urge to pass urine sometimes though the feeling is much less. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Revlimid?

Hello redcarnation,

I have not had it but checked to see if it was rare. I have a Celgene Product Monograph, and it lists your problem, albeit as uncommon.

"Renal and Urinary Disorders:
Common: micturition urgency, urinary frequency, urinary incontinence, renal impairment, pollakiuria
Uncommon: azotemia, bladder disorder, hematuria, nephrolithiasis, nocturia, oliguria, proteinuria, renal failure acute, urethral caracole, urinary retention, renal colic."

Thanks Kate for the information. I found the paper online "Celgene Product Monograph" and now I have some info to show the Hematologist when I see him next. Thanks so much.
