Re: Residual disease - do I have it?
Hi Mary Ann - there's not enough infomation in your post to determine your remission status.
Residual disease post-transplant is assessed by multiple tests in the blood (eg SPEP, serum immunofixation, and serum free light chains), the urine (UPEP and urine immunofixation), and the bone marrow (biopsy, aspirate, cytogenetics, and sometimes flow cytometry). You need all of this info to determine the depth of the remission after a transplant (or after any therapy, for that matter).
The best person to ask for all this info is your oncologist, who should be able to go through the results of all this testing and tell you what type of remission (e.g. complete remission, very good partial remission, partial remission, etc) you are in.
Hope this helps.
