Reducing edema and associated pain after plasmapheresis

by aniram8979 on Fri May 30, 2014 11:15 pm

Hi. My husband just had plasmapheresis done for 5 days as he was diagnosed in April at 34 years of age and he began Velcade injections, which worked quickly along with 60mg of dexamethasone.

However, his poor kidneys couldn't flush properly. Thus he had plasmapheresis done. Now he has some edema in feet legs and abdomen. He began Lasix (furosemide) but is still swollen.

Looking for other suggestions on how alleviate the pain from edema.

My husband was swollen as well after the plasmapheresis treatments. The steroid is likely the culprit. Watch the fluid intake and keep taking the Lasix. It will take time.
