Hi all -
My husband continues to have significant peripheral neuropathy in his feet despite the fact that we have had a break for about 2 months from Revlimid, Velcade, and dexamethasone (RVD) (maintenance following induction). I have noticed redness along one side of the top of his foot, to his large toe. There is no swelling and it does not feel hot.
Has anyone experienced redness with peripheral neuropathy?
Thank you.

Re: Redness with peripheral neuropathy?
Hello Iwem
My mother experienced that and it was determined to be gout. Is your husband on any kind of diuretic? When diuretics are taken, uric acid levels in the blood rise, therefore causing gout. My mother now takes allopurinol daily so as to bring her uric acid down to a manageable level. If your husband is not on any type of diuretic, then perhaps his diet contains too many "rich" foods. You can do some research on what causes gout to see if anything in his diet could be causing it.
It takes time for the uric acid level to decrease, however, if what your husband has is gout, and I do believe it is, then once allopurinol is prescribed, he will begin to feel relief almost immediately.
I hope this helps you!
