Rash and joint pain after stopping treatment

Happy 4th everyone (just finished yummy crabs, Maryland style!).

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this: Finished 6 months of CyBorD (cyclo­phos­phamide, Velcade, dexamethasone) 2 months ago and am now deciding next move.

I started having terrible joint pain (shoulders, elbows, knees) after stopping treatment. I asked my doctor to do a rheumatologic work-up, which was negative. About a week ago, I noticed a few hives that is now a full blown rash on my torso. I contacted my doctor again and he said to stop Valtrex [valacyclovir] and anything else for a few days.

It's been 4 days and things are not better. In fact, I think it's worsened further. I do plan to call him Monday, but am wondering if anyone else developed this after stopping treatment. I'm wondering if it has to do with the steroids: my body wants them back!?!

I have had arthritis in my lower back for several years. The one advantage of dex is that it is an inflammatory, and I had no back pain at all when I was on it.
