Rapid weight loss during treatment

My husband was 200 pounds in October, 160 in December and now he is 138. He is on chemo and I know vomiting is a side effect, but he can't keep anything down and he isn't gaining any weight.

I try to tell myself that if the doctors were concerned they would admit him. Has this happened to anyone else and when did you start to gain your weight back?

What treatment is your husband receiving? Have you told the doctor about the vomiting? Has your husband been prescribed anything for the vomiting? Although some people do have problems with some of the drugs that are used for myeloma treatment, not many have problems with persistent vomiting. There are many anti-nausea drugs that can be tried and they are usually quite effective.

Please give us a little more detail about your husband's condition so that we can respond with better information.

Honestly ... In October I filed for divorce. In early December I decided I didn't want the divorce and then we found out her has cancer. He is living with is parents and while he has told me what he is taking I didn't write it down so I am not sure. He is on chemo and it comes in the form of a shot.

I know he has tried quite a few didn't anti nausea medicine and quit a few different pain meds as well. So I am sure this is no help to any of you.

His parents will not let me see him. He tells me whats going on but I just can't remember. We have 4 children together and I feel like I am living a nightmare. The doctors do know about his vomiting and all of that. He is on a pain med now that seems to be helping the most and it's a patch that he has to change every 72 hours.

A few weeks ago he gained 6 pounds, but the following week he lost 8 pounds. It just because he can't keep much down. He is drinking Ensures and eating good but can't keep it down.
