Rapid weight gain (8 pounds in 3 days)

My husband went for his Velcade injection this morning and had gained 8 pounds since his visit on Friday. He is on dex, but that really seems like a lot. No fluid retention from what we can tell. Anyone experience this?

Hi Halches,

I think that what you should look out for is if he drops the weight again when the dex wears off! I am taking 20 mg dex once a week and find that my weight cycles about 3 - 4 pounds that way. I have to work at keeping the base weight about the same though. Dex can cause an increase in appetite, which surely does not help the situation. So, if he drops the weight a few days after taking the dex, I think that those are 'normal' side effects of taking this steroid, unfortunately.
