My husband served in the military as a radio relay carrier operator and was exposed to a great deal of radiation, both ionizing and non-ionizing, for 4 years. He developed multiple myeloma.
We are wondering if anyone else has had the suspicion the myeloma could have been caused by radiation exposure?

Re: Do you think radiation caused your multiple myeloma?
Radiation exposure is a risk factor in developing myeloma, according to the American Cancer Society:

Re: Do you think radiation caused your multiple myeloma?
Thanks, Little Monkey, for the lead. I read it and the American Cancer Society says radiation can cause multiple myeloma. That's quite disturbing because we are all exposed to radiation nowadays with microwaves, cell phones, and the like.
Re: Do you think radiation caused your multiple myeloma?
My husband went to Chernobyl a year after it happened and he was diagnosed about 12 years ago with multiple myeloma. He suspects that he has multiple myeloma due to his exposure there.
Re: Do you think radiation caused your multiple myeloma?
After my husband developed multiple myeloma, we wondered what could have triggered it. He was on active duty with the U.S.Army for 24 years and stationed at the Nevada test site for 8 of those years. During that time, he was involved in the conduct of several underground nuclear tests. The Department of Veterans Affairs awarded him 100% disabilty because of his service due to exposure to ionizing radiation.
