Question about immunoglobulins

by haileytyler on Thu Sep 13, 2012 8:36 pm

Does anyone know what it means if your im-g # is 5000 and your im-a is 38, im-m is 42. Yes he has been diagosed with multiple myeloma, but his numbers were never this bad. The doctor just keeps telling us to wait and see but I need somebody to give me a straight answer. He has just started Remilid and Dex. this week. anybody's comments or answers would be appreciated. Thanks

@ haileytyler- Hi Hailey- I was diagnosed (@50) late 2009 with IGA Myeloma- my highest IGA # was over 5700 (Myeloma cancer % was around 67%)- not good news then... but great news now.
I did 6 mos of 10mg Revlimid paired with 40mg Dexamethasone steroids; then Cytoxan IV chemo prior to Autologous stem cell harvest (Neupogen shots to pump up my stemmies); then 2 days of high dose Melphalan chemo prior to Autologous stem cell transplant in July 2010.
Late August 2010 bone marrow biopsy declared CR- Complete Remission :)
Then maintenance Revlimid chemo 5mg until June 2012. And I can happily report I am still in CR- Complete Remission!!! :)
Hoping all goes well for your Dad, Hailey. Post again if you want any additional details.
Julie
