We've have been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma for two years. We have paused treatment recently, because of some lab results, and may resume soon.
With that said, we've been wheezing and coughing for three days. We went to the doctor for coughing and wheezing. We probably caught this bug from someone else. They gave us an inhaler and antibiotics. However, during the examination, they did an x-ray and found two pulmonary nodules in one lung.
What are the chances that these nodules are just an artifact of the environment, or associated with multiple myeloma? Assuming it is related to multiple myeloma, what are the treatment options available? What regimens work against these nodules?

Re: Pulmonary nodules and multiple myeloma
Hi InQ,
First off, I'm not a doc. But I imagine that the doctor is going to want to biopsy one of the nodules to see if it is malignant or not and to help determine what type of disease (if any) may be causing the malignancy.
I also don't think you can say what the chances are that the nodules could be associated with your multiple myeloma or not. A couple of possibilities that come to mind that would be related to multiple myeloma would be that these are extramedullary plasmacytomas or a pulmonary form of amyloidosis. But without further testing, there is really no way of knowing if these nodules are due to the aforementioned conditions, or due to another malady or simply are benign. So, I think it's really too early to start thinking about what your treatment options might be without first knowing what you are dealing with.
Since you're already being treated for multiple myeloma, you already know how frustrating it is waiting for test results. Let us know how things turn out and best of luck to you.
