Prevnar 13 pneumonia vaccine post stem cell transplant
Has anyone post transplant taken the Prevnar 13 pneumonia vaccine. If so, is it only one dose?

Re: Prevnar 13 pneumonia vaccine post stem cell transplant
My wife is currently getting post auto stem cell transplant vaccinations. The protocol for the Prevnar 13 is three doses given three months apart. There is some discrepancy in the field as to when to start the three doses, varying between six and twelve months. Many recommendations rely on the CDC, which uses this doc (vaccine recommendations start on page 1173, which is page 31 of the pdf).

Mine was the 3 shots, 3 months apart, but I had to wait a year before they would start my immunizations. I had no side effects from them.
