Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you very much. I have a 1q gain as far as the chromosomal abnormality goes. By Mayo's standards, that places me in an intermediate-risk category, but I take that with a grain of salt with all other things considered. This disease is such a cocktail of factors, isn't it?

Thank you for responding. You really do give me such hope, and I think you are so brave. As far as the Revlimid goes, I believe my eggs are still okay, I just have to be off the Revlimid for awhile. There are guidelines for both men and women regarding this, and my doctor here has been perhaps an even more advocate than me of doing everything we can to give me the option of childbearing if my fiancee and I choose to, so he was as careful as he could be in offering and helping select a treatment regimen. When I was first diagnosed I didn't even want to think about having my eggs stored and trying to have a child; I always wanted to, but with a cancer diagnosis, my mind just went straight to self-survival mode.
I am leaning toward doing my autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) as soon as I can after my induction treatment, Revlimid break, and egg retrieval. This will definitely give me and my fiancee more time to think everything over ... and over ... and over again. Maybe by the time I've recovered from all that they'll have found a cure. Wouldn't that be nice?
Thank you again for responding, and I'll try to update this post if anything relevant comes up. Our life challenges with this disease are so rare, I'd like to think someday we can help someone else in our shoes who stumbles upon this.
Best of luck to you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers.
