Hi Everyone!
I'm back after my double cord transplant. It's been a long recovery and I still have a way to go.
Has anyone been unable to cry after transplant and all the meds you take? I haven't been able to cry for months. I don't know if it is physical or if the side effects of the meds are changing my affect.
I also have dry mouth. Does it get better? It is driving me crazy.

WeatherNurse,
Welcome back. When was your transplant? Where was your transplant?
I seem to have no problem crying! I do it far too much.
But I also have dry mouth. So bothersome. I carry water with me everywhere.

Re: Unable to cry (no tears) & dry mouth
Welcome back, Gracie! It's good to hear from you.
No problems here with tears or dry mouth after my auto transplant. But that's a lot different than the transplant you've had, of course.
I'm sure lots of us on the Forum have been thinking of you and wondering how things have gone with your transplant. When you have the time and are up to it, I, for one, would like to hear more details about your transplant and how things have been going for you.
Best wishes,
Mike

Re: Unable to cry (no tears) & dry mouth
Glad to see you back too, Gracie! Transplant with cord blood seems very unusual and unique! Hope you are feeling well, apart from the lack of tears and the dry mouth too.
I found an article about 'dry eyes' (see below). It seems that many people have some form of this problem, even people wearing contact lenses. I have had 'dry mouth' due to taking chemotherapy. It helps to drink water or other fluids. Even sparkling water seems to help. My dentist usually asks me about 'dry mouth', since a lack of saliva can cause dental caries.

Re: Unable to cry (no tears) & dry mouth
Hi,
What an experience. Yes I have a dry mouth and I didn't suffer that much with the mouth ulcers during my transplant.
Also I think my eyes are different, I can only explain it as it's like my glasses need a new prescription, but I also can cry and do.

I had my auto stem cell transplant on 4 August 2015 at MD Anderson. I still experience dry mouth. My dentist gave me "GC Dry Mouth Gel". I apply it as needed and it makes a difference. I had no luck with Biotene. Talk to your dentist and give this a try.
