Hello,
Hope you're all doing well.
Had a question for anyone who might be able to help.
My dad was diagnosed with light chain multiple myeloma last may. He was put on Velcade, thalidomide and dexamethasone and did extremely well. He was in sCR (stringent complete remission) in 2 cycles and had an auto SCT 5 months after diagnosis. He was also in sCR at the time of the transplant.
It has been 3 months (almost) since the transplant and my dad had a serum electrophoresis and free light chain assay done a couple of days ago.
Now his reports are a bit tricky and have made us a bit nervous.
While his kappa lambda ratio is normal, and immunoglobulin levels are normal (within the normal range), his beta 2 microglobulin has gone from 2100 to 2500 mcg/L. And his kappa light chains have gone from 19 to 23.78 mg/L.
However, reports say no monoclonal gammopathy and no monoclonal paraprotein or light chain present.
We're both worried and confused (can't see the oncologist till next Friday!).
If anyone has any advice / explanations, I would be supremely grateful.
Thank you so much in advance!
