Post SCT question

by Stann on Sat Oct 01, 2011 11:49 pm

I just finished a tandem SCT and came home 2 weeks ago. I went into the second SCT with an Mspike of 1.0. 4 weeks after transplant, my Mspike was down to 0.55. I realize this is very early to be reading these numbers, but any guesses as to whether or not I will achieve CR?

I am watching these numbers very closely because after my first VDPACE, my numbers went way down and came right back up a few months later. (Due to complications, I was "au natural" for 3 months afterwards).
I am wondering if I am a candidate for starting maintenance therapy ASAP as opposed to waiting to see how far down my numbers go as a result of SCT. And since I tolerated Rev, Thalidimide, Dx and Velcade all very well, I have no problem with starting them soon.
Thanks

How well myeloma responds to a stem cell transplant cannot be determined until roughly 90 days after transplant. It is too early to make any conclusions.
